Beautiful, bold, limited-edition handmade Linocuts

Gerry Coles is a Linocut Artist based in rural Oxfordshire. She discovered printmaking only a few years ago after visiting an exhibition in Bath. She is largely self taught but also enjoys attending workshops to improve specific skills and loves to pick up new ideas and techniques. Gerry’s work depicts the flowers and birds of her locality, but she also enjoys carving scenes of Oxford that capture her imagination.

She is a member of Oxford Art Society and displays her work at local exhibitions throughout South Oxfordshire, including Thame Art Crawl and Oxfordshire Artweeks. More recently her online presence has flourished and her audience has broadened and she now regularly sells internationally.

Gerry says “I have always loved boldness in art whether in colour or black and white and I think linocut is the perfect medium for showing this off. I relish the combination of artistry, technical challenge and luck that is needed to produce a print, and I’m constantly in awe of what is revealed when the paper is peeled back from the block.”
