PotterB – Bridget Thompson

Hand thrown, functional pottery with a gardener’s influence.

My pottery consists of handmade stoneware mugs, jugs, bowls, vases and platters with beautiful flower designs all influenced by my love of gardening, in Goring on Thames.
It all started with a lovely 21st birthday present – a one year pottery course at Sunningwell School of Art. Since then wherever my career has taken me I have continued to spend an evening a week on a pottery course. A couple of years at the Royal College of Art introduced me to Keith Brymer Jones who was very enthusiastic and encouraging, if you could get his attention!
Moving to Goring over 20 years ago I made the decision to make more and refine my skills. After renting space in a fellow potters studio I moved everything into my own space five years ago. Recently adding a studio to the bottom of my garden has given me the time and space to be more creative and enjoy my passion in a completely different way. This has allowed me to enjoy experimenting with glaze colours and a range of shapes and sizes. I sell my work from my home in Goring and at local craft fairs.
